NEWLY LAUNCHED INTERNET SITE TO HELP LEGAL PROFESSIONALS AND CONSUMERS FIND LEGAL INFORMATION ONLINE
Summerside, P.E.I. & Ottawa, Ontario (November 1, 2000) - A newly launched Internet site will help legal professionals and Canadian consumers coast to coast easily find the legal information or services they need.
The site, called LegalNetInfo.com, features Canadian legal news and cross-Canada legal services links. It provides Canadian consumers and legal professionals with a list of legal services Canada-wide, and a directory of Canadian legal employment sites. There is also a job posting service to help the Canadian legal community grow.
The site is run by LAWOIX, a Canadian Internet media firm whose goal is to service Canada from coast to coast. The site is managed by Craig Cummings, a paralegal and owner of LAWOIX.
Cummings says there was a substantial need for a site like this. "We found that a lot of people were looking for the same information we were and they had to look all over to find it. Lawyers and other legal professionals from smaller regions had difficulty locating services for their clients, or ran into difficulty when they had to go outside their own province for legal services."
The site officially launched today and is the first of its kind in Canada. "We have put together the first all Canadian legal website that is very complete, detailed, organised, informative, covering Canada coast to coast and including all Provinces and Territories in its content" says Cummings.
The site also includes Canadian legal headlines which provides users with an up to date look at happenings in the Canadian Legal community. The headlines feature cases in the news, legal stories, and legal issues, from The Supreme Court to the small town court room - a must for any lawyer who needs to keep abreast of case law.
The site aims to be the number one source for Canadians looking for Canadian legal information, be they a Bay Street Lawyer, first year law student, or a consumer. "The number of people wanting the service is growing and we want the site and its services to continue to grow with them," says Cummings.
